MIG160PRO Setup & Troubleshooting
What does “Err 1” mean on the MIG160PRO?
Err 1 indicates overheat protection.
This may occur after the machine exceeds its duty-cycle or internal temperature limit.
Keep the machine powered on so the cooling fan can run. Allow approximately 3–5 minutes for cooling.
The machine should automatically recover after its internal temperature returns to a safe level.
Why am I getting excessive spatter with flux-cored wire?
Check the following:
- Use correct DCEN polarity.
- Use the knurled flux-core drive roller.
- Select the correct Flux / gasless welding mode.
Incorrect polarity or wire-feed configuration can significantly increase spatter.
Why is the welding wire slipping or jamming?
Check the wire-feed tension and drive roller.
Too little tension can cause slipping, while excessive tension may deform the wire and contribute to feeding problems.
Make sure the correct roller is installed for the wire type.
Does the MIG160PRO have arc-inductance adjustment?

CUT50D Plasma Cutter FAQ
Cutting capacity, dual voltage, HF Touch-Start Contact Arc, power requirements, portability and common CUT50D applications.
Is the CUT50D suitable for beginners?
Yes. The CUT50D uses a straightforward digital control interface and a relatively simple basic setup for first-time plasma-cutting users.
Basic setup includes connecting the PT31 torch, ground clamp, external compressed-air supply and an appropriate power supply.
First-time users should still read the user manual, confirm the air and electrical setup, and follow all safety instructions before cutting.
What type of work is the CUT50D designed for?
The CUT50D is intended primarily for:
- Home garage projects
- DIY metalworking
- Automotive and exhaust repair
- Farm and property maintenance
- Salvage projects
- General metal cutting
- Light repair and fabrication
It is not intended for continuous heavy industrial production.
Can the CUT50D be used for commercial workshop work?
The CUT50D is primarily intended for DIY, repair, maintenance and other intermittent cutting applications.
It may be used for suitable light or intermittent tasks in a work area, but it should not be treated as a continuous-duty industrial production cutter. Always operate within the rated output and duty-cycle limits.
What is HF Touch-Start Contact Arc?
HF Touch-Start uses high-frequency ignition and requires the torch nozzle to make the contact needed by this machine to establish the cutting arc on conductive metal.
For reliable starting, attach the ground clamp to clean bare metal and begin the cut on a clean conductive area. Heavy rust, paint or other insulating coatings should be removed from the initial arc-start point.
After the arc is established, the cutter can continue through some lightly rusted or painted areas, depending on the material and conditions.
Does the CUT50D support Pilot Arc?
No.
The CUT50D configuration covered by this FAQ uses HF contact / touch-start ignition.
It does not provide non-contact Pilot Arc starting.
What is the difference between HF Touch Start and Pilot Arc?
HF Touch Start requires the torch/workpiece contact needed to establish the cutting arc and works well for solid conductive metal used in general DIY, repair and fabrication work.
Pilot Arc provides non-contact starting and is generally better suited to expanded metal, mesh, heavily rusted surfaces and applications involving frequent arc re-starts across gaps.
Can the CUT50D cut expanded metal or metal mesh?
It is not recommended for this application.
Because the CUT50D uses HF Touch-Start ignition, repeatedly crossing gaps in expanded metal or mesh can interrupt the conductive path and make continuous cutting more difficult.
A Pilot Arc plasma cutter is generally a better choice for mesh and expanded-metal cutting.
What metals can the CUT50D cut?
The CUT50D is designed for conductive metals including:
- Mild / carbon steel
- Stainless steel
- Aluminum
Cutting capacity and edge quality vary with material type, thickness, current, airflow, travel speed and consumable condition.
Can the CUT50D cut copper, cast iron or galvanized metal?
The CUT50D can cut electrically conductive metals such as copper and cast iron, but results can differ from mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum.
Copper, cast iron and heavily galvanized material may produce rougher edges or accelerate consumable wear. Frequent cutting of these materials is therefore not the primary intended use for this model.
What is the cutting thickness at 220–240V?
At approximately 220–240V and 15–50A:
Ideal clean cut: approx. 1/2 in / 12 mmMaximum severance: approx. 4/5 in / 20 mm
Maximum severance is not the same as optimum clean-cut thickness. Material type, airflow, power stability, consumable condition and cutting technique all affect actual results.
What is the cutting thickness at 110–120V?
At approximately 110–120V and 15–35A:
Ideal clean cut: approx. 2/5 in / 10 mmMaximum severance: approx. 3/5 in / 15 mm
The 110–120V input range is best suited to lighter and intermittent cutting compared with operating the cutter at its full 200–240V output.
Can I cut 20 mm metal continuously on 120V household power?
No. The approximately 20 mm / 4/5 in maximum-severance figure applies to the higher-voltage 220–240V operating range, not normal continuous cutting on 110–120V household power.
At 110–120V the CUT50D is limited to a lower 15–35A output range, with an approximate 10 mm clean-cut and 15 mm maximum-severance reference.
For prolonged higher-load cutting, use an appropriate 220–240V supply and remain within the machine’s rated duty cycle.
Does the CUT50D support both 110V and 220V power?
Yes. The CUT50D is a dual-voltage machine designed to operate within approximately:
- AC 100–120V
- AC 200–240V
Output range is approximately 15–35A on 100–120V and 15–50A on 200–240V. Always verify the outlet, circuit and electrical installation before use.
What breaker size is recommended for the CUT50D?
Current CUT50D product guidance lists:
110V: dedicated 20A circuit240V: minimum dedicated 30A circuit for full-output operation
Do not share the circuit with other high-power equipment while cutting. Electrical requirements can vary by installation and local code, so have the circuit confirmed by a qualified electrician when necessary.
Why can a household breaker trip when I use the CUT50D on 110V?
Breaker trips can occur when the cutter is operated at higher load for extended periods, when the circuit is shared with other equipment, or when voltage drop is caused by an undersized or excessively long extension cord.
On 110–120V, use a suitable dedicated circuit and treat the machine primarily as an intermittent light-to-medium cutting setup. For prolonged higher-load work, 220–240V operation is the better choice when a properly rated supply is available.
What is the duty cycle of the CUT50D?
Current CUT50D specifications state:
110V / 35A: 100% duty cycle240V / 50A: 35% duty cycle
Duty cycle is based on a standard 10-minute reference period. A 35% duty cycle corresponds to approximately 3.5 minutes of rated cutting followed by cooling time within that reference period.
Ambient temperature, ventilation and actual operating conditions can affect how quickly thermal protection activates. If E02 appears, allow the machine to cool with the fan operating until the protection resets.
How much does the CUT50D weigh and what are its dimensions?
Approx. 10.58 lb / 4.8 kg with power cord and air-filter components
Approximate machine dimensions:
12 × 4.7 × 8.46 in / 305 × 120 × 218 mmThe compact body and top carrying handle make the machine easier to move between a garage, vehicle, farm or other repair location.
What is the CUT50D protection rating?
IP21S does not mean the machine is rainproof. Keep the cutter dry and operate it in an appropriate protected environment.
Does the CUT50D support 2T and 4T cutting modes?
Yes.
2T provides direct trigger control and is convenient for shorter cuts and stop-and-start work.
4T can reduce the need to continuously hold the trigger during longer cutting passes.
Post-flow air continues briefly after the arc stops to help cool the torch and consumables.
What torch is supplied with the CUT50D?
Approximate torch cable length:
13.12 ftLonger replacement torch cables are not recommended for the current CUT50D configuration because additional cable resistance may reduce arc stability or cutting performance.
Can the CUT50D be used with a CNC plasma table or automatic cutting cart?
No. The current CUT50D is intended for manual handheld cutting.
It is not designed for CNC plasma tables or automatic cutting carts.
No-load voltage: 310VOverall efficiency: approx. 85%

110 / 120V: 30–60 PSI220 / 240V: 50–80 PSI
Under this guidance, avoid exceeding approximately 80 PSI during normal operation.
Stable airflow and stable input voltage are both important. If the arc becomes unstable, check the air supply, hose connections, electrical supply and consumable condition before increasing pressure.
What size air compressor should I use?
Current CUT50D FAQ guidance recommends a compressor capable of maintaining at least:
Minimum 4 CFM @ 90 PSIStable airflow is more important than briefly reaching a high pressure. A compressor that cannot maintain airflow during cutting may cause poor penetration, unstable arc behavior or rougher cut quality.
Does the CUT50D include an air regulator and pressure display?
Yes. The current package includes air-filter / regulator components, and the machine provides a front digital air-pressure display for monitoring pressure during setup and cutting.
Why is the front digital air-pressure display useful?
The front display allows the operator to check air-pressure status without moving around to the back of the machine.
Monitoring pressure during setup can help improve consistency in:
- Arc stability
- Cut quality
- Consumable life
- Air-system setup
What accessories are supplied with the CUT50D?
